FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WILL IT HURT?

Plastic or Cosmetic Surgery ranges from minor in-office procedures to extensive surgeries performed in our own operating suites. For any of our procedures, great care is taken to keep our patients as relaxed and comfortable as possible with little or no pain. While many types of anesthesia are available, most surgeries are done with sedation analgesia or under general anesthesia, where you sleep through the operation. After surgery, any pain is controlled by medication and will usually subside in a few days.

IS IT SAFE?

All surgeries carry some uncertainty and risk. However, in having a highly skilled and qualified surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Still every individual is different in their physical reactions, healing abilities, and outcomes are never completely predictable. During your one on one consultation with Dr. Eisbach, possible complications are discussed in greater detail.

DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE LONG?

With the advances in surgical medicine, most procedures only take a few hours and are done on an outpatient basis that require no overnight stay. As a patient, you will come in about an hour before the procedure for a final meeting with the doctor and get prepped. Following the surgery, you will stay under our care for a few hours. Then you will be ready to leave with a friend or relative for assistance to complete your recovery in the comfort of a home environment.

HOW SOON CAN I RETURN TO WORK?

Depending on the procedure, most patients can return to work within seven to fourteen days. Following the recommended postoperative instructions and refraining from exposing yourself to damaging elements - such as smoking and direct sun light - will aid in the speed of your recovery.

WILL OTHERS KNOW I HAD COSMETIC SURGERY?

Probably not. Typically, people who notice a change may ask if you've changed your diet, hair, or been on vacation. They will often comment that you look more rested or healthy. Good cosmetic surgery will enhance your appearance and often go unnoticed.

WILL THERE BE ANY SCARS?

Yes, scars are always possible with any surgical procedure, but a highly skilled surgeon such as Dr. Eisbach can minimize noticeable scaring by keeping them as small as possible and hiding them in natural lines and creases. We caution any patient to be wary of clinics or physicians that promise no scarring.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?

Procedures that correct a facial imbalance such as nose refinement, ear reshaping, or chin augmentation can last a lifetime. Surgeries that rejuvenate such as face lifts, laser resurfacing or eye lifts usually last between five to ten years depending on how well you care for yourself and your skin. This means that in five to ten years, you may gradually see changes in your face that are similar to those you are now experiencing. So, while surgery cannot stop the aging process, the benefits of the surgery will continue to lessen the effects of aging you may have otherwise experienced.

IS IT EXPENSIVE?

Cosmetic or Plastic Surgery is more affordable than you may think. Once thought of as a luxury for the rich and famous, many people are surprised to find out that over half the people (women and men) who have cosmetic procedures make less than $35,000 a year. The quality and availability of plastic surgery has improved while the expense has gone down. Eliminating hospital stays has reduced costs dramatically.

WILL MY INSURANCE COVER IT?

Since cosmetic surgery is considered an elective procedure (not medically necessary), most insurance plans will not cover it. However, there are some procedures that may be covered if they are considered medically necessary. Our office will be glad to contact your insurance provider to see if any portion of the surgery could be covered.

IS FINANCING AVAILABLE?

Financing can be a viable option. We can suggest local financial institutions for discrete, confidential inquires regarding financial options or you may want to check with your own personal lender. We also accept most major credit cards for your convenience. With these alternatives, low monthly payments can make any procedure affordable. Our staff will be happy to discuss all of these options with you.
